What Makes the Spartan PRO Different
The Spartan PRO is our top-of-the-line portable pickleball net. Every component is upgraded over the standard Heavy-Duty model — heavier frame, larger steel, stainless internal winder, full stainless casters available. It’s the net we build for owners, clubs, schools, and parks that want the best.
- 225 lbs of structural mass. Nearly double the standard model. The frame stays planted under regulation tension without sandbags, ground anchors, or added weight.
- 3″ square frame rails in 3.5″ connectors and center. The frame steel is roughly double the dimensions of our standard system. Bigger steel handles tension and impact with more margin.
- Stainless steel internal winder. Sealed inside the post, never exposed to weather or tampering. Stainless gears resist corrosion and hold their geometry for years longer than brass or galvanized winders.
- Optional full stainless 360-degree locking casters. The most corrosion-resistant caster setup available — the right choice for coastal or year-round outdoor installations.
- Same regulation play, same setup. Same USAPA tournament dimensions, same supportless 22′ span, same 6″ ground clearance for balls to roll under, same modular 5-foot section breakdown.
Steel vs. Aluminum
Why steel? Why not aluminum?
We build with steel, not aluminum. Here’s why.
- Aluminum flexes under tension. Steel doesn’t. Steel is roughly 3x stiffer than aluminum.
- Aluminum frames bend permanently when dropped or struck. Steel takes the hit. Portable nets get moved, dropped, and bumped. Steel absorbs the impact and stays straight. Bent aluminum stays bent.
- Aluminum doesn’t rust, but it tarnishes and pits. The dull, chalky finish that develops on aluminum doesn’t polish off. Powder-coated steel, kept up, looks like new for years.
- The tennis and pickleball industries use the same equipment standards — and both standards are powder-coated steel. Aluminum isn’t used at the commercial level. There’s a reason for that.
Why Buy From Spartan Athletic Mfg.
Spartan Athletic Co. has been selling sports equipment since 2012. Our founder is a former Certified Tennis Court Builder — a credential from the American Sports Builders Association, the national authority for sports facility construction. We know how these courts are built because we’ve built them.
Spartan Athletic Manufacturing, our in-house production division, opened in 2023. We build tennis and pickleball net posts and portable systems out of Oaks, Pennsylvania.
- Talk to the people who built it. Call us with questions before or after the sale. We answer.
- Replacement parts, always. We build these nets every week. If something breaks in five years, we still have the parts.
- Manufactured in America. Designed, fabricated, and finished in the United States.
“We purchased 4 of these for our Florida condo. They’ve been outdoors 24/7 since October 2023, through multiple Florida storms with high winds and driving rain — the systems have not moved, and the net tension hasn’t slackened. Comparable and perhaps better than the heavy-duty name-brand systems out there.”

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to set up?
Initial assembly takes about 30-45 minutes. After that, breakdown and re-setup runs 15-20 minutes.
Is this regulation for tournament play?
Yes. Built to USAPA specifications — 22 feet wide, 36 inches at the posts, 34 inches at the center.
How heavy is it? Can one person move it?
The system weighs 225 pounds. With the optional locking casters, one person can roll it across a court, but due to the combination of length and weight of the net, it is much easier to move with two people.
What’s the warranty?
5 years on the steel frame against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use.
Where do I get replacement parts?
Direct from us. We build these nets and stock the parts.
Do I need the locking casters?
Only if you’ll be moving the net. If your plan is to install it on the court and leave it there, then the “no wheels” option is perfect for you and will save money.
Can I add wheels later?
No. We build each system specifically for wheels or no wheels — the post heights differ between the two configurations.
Can you build a custom size?
Yes. Contact us with your specifications.
How does it ship?
In most circumstances, an order with a quantity of 1-2 nets will ship ground. Orders with a quantity of 3 or more nets will ship LTL freight.
Questions before you buy? Call us.
You’ll talk directly to the people who build the nets. A US company, building in Oaks, Pennsylvania. We answer the phone before the sale and after.

I was asked by my Florida condo HOA to investigate replacing our 4 lightweight, outdoor, moveable pickleball nets because they were requiring regular replacement due to wind and weather damage. After doing extensive research online, speaking with a purchaser of these nets for outdoor use in a northern state, and querying many aspects of the Spartan nets in terms of quality, manufacturing, customer service, specifications, and other aspects, we purchased 4 of these net systems without the wheels.
The nets have now been in use outdoors 24/7 since we received them in October 2023. They are a light years upgrade from the nets we replaced and the quality, heft, and stability have endured very well thus far despite several Florida storms we have experienced with high winds and driving rains – the systems have not moved nor has the tension on any of the net cables slackened! Honestly, the only con I can state at this point is that the small bolt holes in the frames show rust due to weather exposure. This does not affect the integrity of the structure and is more cosmetic, which we plan to address with Rustoleum touch up spray paint… not a big deal or major concern at all!
These nets are comparable and perhaps even better for the price than the heavy duty, name brand net systems out there. We have a very large and active group of pickleball players in our community and I can say with confidence that everyone is enjoying playing with these nets in place which provides a high quality of playing experience.
Lastly, I will say that the owner/manufacturer of Spartan Athletic Co., Shawn, provides excellent customer service in support of this product. If interested in this excellent net system, talk to Shawn… highly recommend these Spartan nets!

Great nets. We bought 4 for our club and now that we set them up and the playesr like them we will be purchasing more. The quality seems like they will last a long time

We used them for a tournament last weekend and they held up perfectly and we got some compliments from the players aobut them. The price is really good compared to other nets int this group so we saved ourselves thousands of dollars and still got a really good net so we are very happy. The guys said the nets weren’t difficult to put together
Kevin (verified owner) –
The Pro net is a beast. Definitely heavy duty as advertised. Good net tension. No complaints.
Daniel Nguyen –
Heavy duty, well designed net. Good net tension. It was easy to put together. Would recommend if you are looking at commercial grade nets. Good price compared to others.
